I'd like to propose that teams be able to void their players' team option at anytime during the last guaranteed year of their contract. This has come up for me many times and I am sure it comes for a lot of GMs, who know they are going to void someone's option at the end of the year but can't use that money towards extensions until November when there is maybe only 1 or 2 sims before the players are eligible for free agency. In reality, we should have been able to negotiate with our players for 4-5 months prior but we couldn't because the game acts like we are still on the hook for an option we know 100% we will be voiding.

I second this proposal.

How do you propose that happens? Is there anyway to do such a thing, even as a commissioner?

How do you propose that happens? Is there anyway to do such a thing, even as a commissioner? Theoretically you can, if you go into the editor, you could delete the last year of the contract, but then that would take remembering to and manually assigning the buyout that next year. Also, I really hate this idea because it removes from reality. If you don't want a player to have that last year, then don't give it to them in your contract negotiations. I think this is way too cheap of a bailout.
