NTC Proposal
Just wanted to put something out there for discussion. The NTC can be extremely restrictive especially to a new GM that didn't sign that contract. As it currently stands those players are not able to be moved in any way. In order to facilitate at least some sort of option with those players I'd propose the following
Players with a NTC would only be eligible to be traded if the have a morale of Good (maybe normal) or worse The receiving team must be (or have been the previous season) 6 games over .500
The receiving team would make some sort of concession to the NTC player. 1) Any player on the last year of his contract would need to be signed to an extension by the new team 2) Any player with option years on his deal would need those option years guaranteed 3) Players without option years that still have years remaining could be offered some type of bonus for waiving NTC
Just throwing this out for discussion if anybody has any ideas on how to make it better.

I would support this. Players with no trade clauses often would waive it if they benefited or were going to a more competitive team, so this stops No Trade Clauses from being death sentences while making the conditions consistent with realism.

I think that'd be very interesting! I agree with your points, Brian, and your thoughts too Tony. It makes rosters a bit more flexible without allowing NTC's to mean nothing.
I'd want it to be a team that was relevant this year. I like the 6 games over .500 rule, but my opinion is that should only be for the year in which they're traded (excepting offseason). Also, I do think the morale should be Normal or worse, maybe even Bad.

I would support a proposal like this as well.

One thing i was thinking about today is maybe the happiness of the player should have more of an effect. like a player who is very upset would be more likely to waive his NTC just to get out of town regardless of whether or not the team was a contender.

No Trade Clauses will continue to be enforced. Offer them at your own risk!
